Stage number two happens when the tadpoles hatch.
Tadpoles live in shallow waters where frogs and toads are found.
Most tadpoles inhabit ponds, lakes and slow moving rivers.
A tadpole has a large rounded head and long, flat tail.
It uses the tail to propel itself through the water.
Tadpoles breath through feathery gills at the sides
of their head. Most tadpoles eat algae, watery plants
and tiny creatures.
