Zora Neale Hurston
by Luli
This stamp commemorates Zora Neale Hurston. Zora had a
mischievous spirit. Her father kept on telling her
that being so curious about everything would get her
in big trouble. But her mom said to jump at it and be
as curious as she wants to be, and that's what Zora
did. Zora was born in 1903 in Eatonville, Florida. Zora
loved to listen to stories on the porch of the General
store. Zora was a writer and studied and collected
folk tales. Zora was never afraid to live the way
she wanted to or to do what she felt like doing.
Many people loved to listen to her stories and read
her books. One of Zora's most popular books is Their
Eyes Were Watching God. Then in 1960 Zora Neale
Hurston died.
