Flying Buttresses
by Luli
The flying buttress can be found outside of the Cathedral. The flying buttress is made of limestone and supports the walls of the cathedral. They connect the buttress to the wall. Without the flying buttress the ceilings wouldn't be as high and the walls wouldn't be as far apart. The flying buttress is curved like an arch at the bottom and straight at the top. Without them, the National Cathedral wouldn't look as good as it does now or might not even be standing.
