Most North American and European frogs breed in the spring.
Frogs live alone for much of the year, but when they need to mate,
frogs and toads gather in large groups in ponds and streams.
These large groups are called breeding choruses.
They meet to mate and lay eggs. The male and female frogs
travel to their favorite pond. First the male gets to the
pond and croaks loudly to attract the female. This often
happens at night so it is a good idea for the male frog
to make noise so the female can find him. As the males
croak their throats swell into pouches making the noise louder.
