Charles Carroll was born in 1737.
He was born in the Charles Carroll house
in Annapolis, Maryland. His parents were
wealthy Catholics. When he grew up he became
the wealthiest person living in America. Charles
Carroll was one of four men from Maryland who
signed the Declaration of Independence. He is the
only man to include his address. This was a very
brave thing to do because if America has lost the
Revolutionary War, the first people the British would
have looked to capture would have been the signers of the
Declaration. Luckily, Maryland won the war.
Charles Carroll died in 1832. He was the last of
the 56 signers to die. He died in his home at the age of 95.
