Thomas Stone

Thomas Stone was born in 1743, in Charles County.
Thomas Stone is famous because he was one of the four signers
from Maryland who signed the Declaration of Independence.
He was a well educated man. Like his fellow signers he trained as a lawyer.
Unlike them, he decided to pursue his career in a far off place called
Fredrick Town in Frederick County. Because of this, he was away from
politics during the 1760's but in 1771 he moved back to Charles County.
He was chosen to go to the Continental Congress as a delegate from Maryland.
Thomas Stone died in 1787.
