Circle Story
Now that you have heard or read IF YOU GIVE A MOUSE A COOKIE
by Laura Joffe Numeroff, you know how she ends the story the same way that she began it. Remember how she tells you "If you give a mouse a cookie, he's going to ask for a glass of milk" at the beginning of the story and at the end she says, "And chances are if he asks for a glass of milk, he's going to want a cookie to go with it." Now you are going to write your own circle story.
DIRECTIONS
A. Choose an animal character and something that animal would want to eat.
B. Decide on a setting for your story.
C. Think of at least 5 events for your animal character to experience.
D. Begin your story with "If you give a _____ a ________, he will ask for a ___________.
E. Use all 5 or more happenings in your story. Be sure your story tells a story and is interesting for someone else to read.
F. After your story is written you may type it and save it on your disk. *Remember to go to "save as" then "desktop" and then your "name". Then you may title your piece "circle story".
G. When your story is all typed and you have used "spell check" to check your spelling, you may print it out to be edited.
H. The last piece of writing a circle story is to illustrate it. Mrs. Louden will print out the pages in large type for you to illustrate.
