Honduran White Bats are tiny. They grow up to be only one and three-fourths of an inch long. They have white fur coats, bright yellow ears, and a matching nose horn. Their eyes have gray hairs around them. Their colony usually has 2 to 15 members. They are very unusual bats found only in the Caribbean lowlands of Central America. In Central America, they eat fruit. The Honduran White Bat is a megabat. I know this because all megabats eat fruit. They fly slowly but can change directions quickly. Their favorite spot is inside a heliconia leaf. They are called the tent-making bats. They make a tent out of the leaf by biting into the leaf and folding the leaf over itself. They use the tents for several weeks. The tents protect them from predators and rain.
